DESCRIPTION: Emotions arise from the most primitive part of the brain, the same area of the brain that allowed our species to survive real physical threats many eons ago. Today’s threats are more psychological or ego threats, but the very same defense mechanisms are triggered. Emotional Intelligence is about recognizing and managing our own emotional triggers and the resulting behaviors they create. And it’s also about recognizing the emotions of others, then managing relationships for the highest level of effectiveness. In this short presentation we’ll explore the origins of our emotions, the impact they can have in everyday life, and some ideas on how to build our own emotional intelligence.
