ASTD (American Society for Training & Development) is the world’s largest association dedicated to workplace learning and development professionals. ASTD’s members come from more than 100 countries and connect locally in more than 125 U.S. chapters and with more than 20 international partners. Members work in thousands of organizations of all sizes, in government, as independent consultants, and suppliers.
Started in 1943, in recent years ASTD has widened the profession’s focus to link learning and performance to individual and organizational results, and is a sought-after voice on critical public policy issues.

Established in 1977 in Jackson, the Mississippi Chapter of ASTD is a regional, non-profit association of workplace performance professionals, providing our members with a forum for the exchange of professional development opportunities and resources as they strive to improve workplace learning and performance.
The Chapter's first Geographical Interest Group (GIG) was formed in 19__ on the Mississippi Gulf Coast ..... In 2009 the second GIG formed in Hattiesburg.
The Chapter was awarded ASTD Chapter of the Month in July 2011, a recognition directly tied to the work of our Hattiesburg GIG in hosting bimonthly virtual meetings.
Our members are involved in workplace learning in non-profit companies, healthcare, insurance, transportation, technology, state and local government and retail, while others head their own consulting firms and still others are involved in higher education.
